Dear PM. ,
Veterans sitting on a relay hunger
strike at Jantar Mantar and 50 cities across India.
A small child fears for his
grandfather's life.
He asks his father, why is Dada sitting on hunger strike at
Jantar Mantar? Father tells him, Beta he is fighting for his right. The boy
says, But Dada told me he fought in 1965 and 1971 wars, now he has retired, who
is he fighting? Beta, he is fighting the Govt. The boy asks, Is he fighting the
Pak Govt or the Chinese Govt? No Beta, he is fighting the Indian Govt. The boy is shocked. Indian Govt? Why should he fight his own Govt? Beta, he is fighting for OROP, which was promised 40 years ago but not implemented till date.
But Papa, Dada is 75 years old, will he get OROP in his lifetime?
Papa dont people in Govt know what it is to face bullets, or live in -40 degrees Celsius?
The father replies, Beta, our PM has promised on many occasions, Dada hopes he will implement before he dies.
The PM is a good man, but Finance people are trying to block OROP.
You know beta, in 1983 the then Finance Minister opposed free rations to Defence personnel. Indira Gandhi told him to sign the letter by next morning, and it was done. I wonder if our PM will be able to do it?
Mr PM, this story tells a tale of
apathy, disrespect, and denial of OROP to Defence personnel.
You have always stated your regard
for Defence personnel.
Demonstrate now that you really do
. The soldier trusts
you. Dont break that trust, for once broken then everything is lost.
Regards
and best wishes.
