We verified  his  entitlements and confirmed that he is being paid correct Rate of Pension  including Additional Pension of 50 %

There was a little difference  in Arrears of Cir 568.  For that we have now  written to his CPPC.

YET ANOTHER PRE-1985 AIR VETERAN HELPED FOR ENDORSEMENT OF FAMILY PENSION

VETERAN  CPL.CHELLADURAI  at our Trust Office.

On hearing the speeches  and advises on our 12th Anniversary, the below mentioned veteran  called on our Trust  for Endorsement of Family pension.

Name:  CHELLAURAI   Rank: Corporal  (  263868 )
PPO.No; AF/SC/4135/1982.

On interaction ,  he was of the opinion that the name mentioned in the 1st page of PPO book  is the endorsement.

We explained him  and read out the wordings in the first page, which is the instruction  for payment of LTA   and not the endorsement.

Veteran was convinced with our briefings.
We prepared the applicable Forms for Endorsement  of family pension and  guided him to forward the same to Dte. Of Air Veteran through his PDA.

The veteran was very much satisfied  with our action  and sincerely thanked us for this timely help.

Our Trust is also happy in helping one more veteran .

KIND ATTENTION TO ECHS MEMBERS

KIND ATTENTION TO ECHS MEMBERS--VETERANS AND FAMILIES.

We all know  that we have joined as ECHS members after submitting
A certificate of stoppage of Fixed Medical Allowance ( FMA) from banks. This is one of the documents for joining ECHS.

Many banks  have stopped paying the FMA on the basis  of the request from veterans and families.   But still some banks are paying the FMA  with the pension .
Our veterans and Families  are not aware whether they are being paid FMA  with  the pension as net pension is credited  and they are not that educated to know their  eligible rate  of pension.

When the veterans visited our trust  we had found our that some  ECHS members are being paid with FMA. We have guided them to write their PDA to stop paying FMA immediately  and FMA was stopped in some cases.   But some banks have not acted on the application of veterans  to stop FMA.  In spite of repeated  letters  the FMA is being paid .

This has come to the knowledge of ECHS authorities and they have now issued an instructions / Circular  that the ECHS card will be cancelled  to such members who are still drawing FMA.

Veterans and Families are advised to verify whether the FMA is being paid  to them  through  Pension Slip or our Associations .  If they are paid, please  write to their CPPC immediately  to stop paying FMA  with a copy to the Branch.

Though it is the duty of Banks, it is our interest also to confirm the stoppage .  Other wise the authorities will stop our treatment by canceling the ECHS Card.

Our veteran brothers and  ESM organizations are requested to pass on this important messages to our ESM community and help them to avoid non-treatment and mental agony latter.

DIFFICULTIES FACED BY BANKS IN REVISION OF PENSION FOR NAVY VETERANS.

NOTING OF RANKS  INSTEAD OF TRADES IN THE PPOs  OF NAVY

The Trades of Army and Air force  are  placed in 3 Groups-  X,Y and Z.

The ranks are from Sep to  Sub.Maj  in each group in Army.
Like wise in Air force also.

The Ranks and Groups( not trades) are clearly mentioned in each PPO.
e.g.  Raman,   Rank: Hav    Group Y    QS; 20yrs.

But in Navy,  it is different.  All our Circulars  Tabled  as
Seaman II to MCPO,    Aviation,  Technical and Non Technical
But in the PPOs, instead of Ranks  as Seaman  etc , it is denoted by  their Trades.

For Example:
C.VENUGOPAL     Rank: EMA-(1),    Group: Aviation  Qs:  8yrs..

Now , how can a Banker  decide the Rank  , whether  he is a Seaman , Leading Seaman, Petty Officer, CPO or MCPO.
All Tables in our Circulars indicate only  Rank &Group and not the Trades.

Due to this confusion, many veterans of Navy  did not get their Arrears as per Cir 555, 568 , and 570.
Bank people could not revise the pension for want of the Rank.
Only the Trades mentioned in PPO,  which is not understandable.

Even our veterans  including Navy could not  immediately classify the Rank.
Hence, it is requested that  our NAVY  Authorities may place the Trades in the Respective Groups    and note the RANK in all PPOs
Like -  C.Venugopal,  Seaman -I,  Group- X   QS; 8 yrs. .
This is easily  understandable  for any  revision  and all other purposes.
There is no difficulties faced in regards to Army and Air force.

We hope that our submission will be taken in the right spirit  to avoid delay in  Revision /calculation of arrears  and payment in time to veterans..
Many Navy veterans  have not received their Arrears due this discrepancy.
Navy veterans are requested to help Banks in this regard .

The  ex-servicemen like all men in society are also prone to misfortune.  In an unfortunate event of his child born deformed or later disabled due to accident/natural causes/disease, his capacity to deal with the misery is comparatively lower than the others in the society in such a scenario.
