IMPLEMENTATION OF OROP

Hon’ble Prime Minister,

OROP sanctioned on 17 Feb 2014 and endorsed by two Parliaments, two Govts, mentioned by President in his address to both houses of Parliament has not yet been implemented. Implementation has been assured by you on a number of occasions. It is a cause of concern that PM who is scrupulously honest, ruthlessly committed and amazingly efficient has not been able to get the implementation letter on OROP for his soldiers issued as per the approved definition.  Sir you had promised that all files would be cleared with efficiency, but even after a lapse of five months since approval, OROP implementation letter is stuck in red-herring.   Hon’ble PM Sir, there is only one approved definition of OROP and there will only be one calculation. Red-herrings by the bureaucracy need to be out rightly ignored and Govt letter as per the Draft Govt Letter (DGL) prepared by the Service HQ needs to be implemented. Sir expenditure of few thousand crores to implement OROP is not a big amount for your Govt and the Nation to implement the most genuine demand of soldiers and to honour the  armed forces  of  India . The unwritten agreement between the soldier and the Nation is under serious strain.
Soldiers are protecting the integrity and sovereignty of the Nation even at the peril of their lives. Are we as a Nation respecting our soldiers? Soldiers and ex-servicemen are looking towards you to honour your commitment to them.

  With regards,
Maj Gen Satbir Singh, SM (Retd)
