  FATE OF WAR WIDOWS;

Dear veteran brothers,

 

Here is a feed back and suggestion  in regard to widows of War Wounded  soldiers after discharge from service.

1 .We all know that , when a soldier is killed in War/ War like activities, his wife is called  WAR WIDOW.

S. Now as per Category of Disability  he is sanctioned with Liberalised Family pension- F /BC and other financial benefits.

In the same manner, when a War Wounded soldier ,i.e injured, lost his Hand and leg etc.in the War/ War like activities, he is sanctioned  with WAR Injury Pension- D/ BC   – Say 100% Disability.

  As per  Category of Disabilities: - Cat  A, B, C ,D & E

CAT  D & E

 It says,  Death  Or  Disability  as a result of  war /war like activities.

Hence, we feel  that   a soldier  died in War   or  injured  in war,  his spouse is eligible for LIBERALISED FAMILY PENSION    OR  SOME HIGHER RATE OF FAMILY PENSION. 

2.  But , When this veteran dies after some period, his wife is sanctioned with Ordinary Family pension. vide. F/ NA .or the old PPO

For Example:

Say  A Sepoy  - Group- Y  QS : 5 yrs.

100% WIE    person-  Invalided out.

Service Element;

as per OROP-

  5775- 7th CPC 5775X2.57=14842  w.e.f 1-1-2016

War Injury Element 100%= 11555…..11555X2.57=29697

Total…….14842+29697=………        ..44539.00

DA at 9 %..(30-8-2018..)................    4009.00

Constant Attendant Allowance….     6750.00   

                             Total………       …    55298.00

Case No.1

Widow gets

 Liberalised Family pension as on date

: 11550X2.57=29684.00

Case No: 2

Widow gets Ordinary family pension  :

 Enhanced rate    : 5775X2.57=14842 +DA

 Normal rate…..  :3500X 2.57= 9000 +DA.

See the difference  of War wounded soldier

55298     and the Normal family pension =9810.

It is only 20% of pensioners pension.

The widow has to maintain her family now with Rs.9810 , where as she was maintaining the family with 55298 when her husband was alive.  We feel it is not justified.

In both the cases, widow  of  DEATH  / DISABILITY   on War /

War like activity is the same .

One is called  WAR WIDOW   and the other normal widow..

In our opinion, the widow of War wounded soldier  may be fixed with at least the same service element of the deceased war wounded veteran..

We request all our ESM organizations to think over and express  your opinions to higher ups  so that both the Category of the widows may be called as WAR WIDOWS  and treated .
