WAR INJURY PENSIONERS TO KNOW:

PPO WILL be denoted by:  D/ BC / 123 / year.

War injury pension is sanctioned to Military Personnel who is injured in a WAR  or specified WAR Like activities – ( Category  D & E )

War injury pension consists of Two elements:

1.       War injury Element     2. Service element.

1)    Service Element:  For Invalided out cases, it is equal to retiring pension based on qualifying service up to the date on which he/ she would have retired  in that Rank in normal course including weight age.  No minimum  service is required for earning this service element.

For Example;

A Havildar , Group-B, was injured in war  in his 10^th year of service, and invalided out .  His qualifying service will be taken as 24 yrs + 5 yrs

So, the service element as per Cir 430 for 24 yrs will be  6564/-

2)     WAR INJURY ELEMENT:

This is according to the percentage of  War Injury .

If it is sanctioned  at 100%  for the invalided case, the WI will be 100% of emolument of the soldier at the time of injury.

Here the emolument  in this case  say 11640/,  Then the WI is 11640/-

Suppose it was say 30%.......then the

War injury element will be…..11640 X 30% =3492/-

Previously  WI  for 100%    was fixed rate of   7020   - Sep to Hav.

 For 30%..........it was ..7020 X 30%= 2106/-

Compare the difference.   

Previous Rate  of War injury Element- 100%  was …………….

Sep  to Hav……………………..7020/-

Nb.Sub to Sub.Major………8600/-

Comm officers &

Hony.Officers………………..11760/-

Now the rate will vary according to Rank, Group and qualifying service for each veterans. 

Liberalised Disability Pension:

According to CDA Circular No.456 Para 6.( b),  in cases where the aggregate of service element plus War Injury Element is less than 80%of total emoluments it should be stepped to 80% of the total emoluments.

Example:

A Sepoy B Group  15 yrs. Service having Service Element: Rs.4603(Cir.430)

War injury element @ of 20%   (7020 x 20%)            ….                  Rs.1404

Total …            ….                    …..                               …..                 Rs.6007

But as per the liberalized  disability pension stepping up to 80% it should Rs.9200 x 80%   =  Rs.7360/- 

So there is a difference of Rs.1353 in the basic pension.  All affected veterans are to apply to CDA (P) through their record offices and get revised PPO to this effect.

Note: For those who were discharged  on completion of terms , their Rate will be –

For 100% W.I,  the Rate is  60% of the emolument.

If Constant attendance is sanctioned , it is  now Rs.3000/- per month , no DA.

This allowance will be enhanced by 25 % when the DA rate is increased above 50%,  But it is not automatic, we have to inform the RO and get sanction.  We have not heard any bank has implemented this order.

The affected veterans may take up the case with  their record office for getting the revised PPO.
