OF A 93YRS OLD 2ND WORLD WAR WIDOW.

the bereaved demise of
Smt.Marriammal on 29-3-2014..
Date of birth :
1-7-1921 Date of Death: 29-3-2014.
PPO.No; F/ TI/ 1796/ 1962. PDA; CANARA BANK, SRIVAIKUNTAM- Tutiocorin-Dsit TN.
Place of
death: Tirupuliangudi Village,
Srivaikuntam Taluk, Tuticorin-Dist, Tamil Nadu.
CFN. V.Abraham, a 2nd World War veteran was
dischargd with Disability pension on
1944 and died on 1949.
His wife was sanctioned with family pension vide PPO.No. F/TI/ 1796/1962 w.e.f 1-4-1958.
The prefix on the PPO
,F, indicates that she is eligible for a Special Family pension but was being paid only ordinary family
pension.
We reported this discrepancy to EME Record office. PCDA,
Allahabad , Veteran Cell etc.
The correspondence is going on for past 2 years.
At last, CDA had issued a Hand written letter to the PDA confirming the Special Family pension.
Since the letter did not contain PPO number and the
account number, the PDA and their CPPC declined to act upon and
demanded a Corrigendum PPO .
As the war widow was bedridden and counting her days, we kept on reminding the CDA for issuance of corr.PPO
on a priority basis .
Our IESM Pension
cell was also complaining to all the
Offices concerned to hasten the issuance.
At last, the poor war widow ,
expecting her enhanced Rate and a lump sum arrears amounting to Rs. About
8 lacs., died on 29-3-2014 With out
receiving her entitled pension.
It is very much regrettable that though it is very clear/
accepted fact that she was eligible for a Special Family Pension , PPO
bearing prefix ,F, , the CDA authorities
still had not issued the related Corr.PPO .
It is nothing but
the irony of fate of the Poor war widow
and We pray that her sole may rest in peace.
