ANOTHER ACHIEVEMENT BY OUR TRUST.

EX.SEP .D.JOSEPH 144142 - 90 YEARS OLD -IN OUR TRUST OFFICE

ANOTHER ACHIEVEMENT BY OUR TRUST ON ADDITIONAL PENSIONER WITH DISABILITY

Ex.Sep.144142, D.Joseph is drawing his defence through I O B, Kalakad branch, Tirunelveli Dist, Tamil Nadu. During our routine visits and interactions , we noticed that the subject ESM was sanctioned with 50% Disability element for life and his date of birth was 10-9-1920 and his total service was only 2 years. Hence, he was eligible for minimum pension and an additional pension of 30% w.e.f 1-1-2006, as he has completed 85 years of age. Of late , we had clarified from CDA, Allahabad that the Disability Element can be added to the Service element for calculation of Additional pension. We opine that this ESM is the first one to get this benefit .
He was being paid pension as under :
Basic pension…………….. 3500.00
Disability Ele. 50%........ 775.00
DA on 4275.@ 27%...... 1155.00
Adhog-Exg……………….. 25.00
F M A……………………….. 100.00.
Total…………. 5555.00

Now as per the latest clarification he is eligible for a monthly pension as follows :
Basic pension……………………… 3500.00
Disability Element @ 50%....... 1755.00
Additional pension of
30% on (3500+1755) 5255……. 1577.00
6832.00
DA @ 35 %w.e.f 1-1-2010…….. 2392.00
F M A……………………………………. 100.00
Total pension…………… .9324. 00

We can now find the difference in his monthly pension. We have calculated the arrears payable to the ESM with effect from 1-1-2006 amounting to Rs.147540/-.

The fact was explained to the branch manager, and he was convinced with our submission and agreed to revise the pension and pay the arrears early. It is a special achievement in our efforts in helping the ESMs.

Blind aged women.

ONE MORE ANNADHANAM BY OUR TRUST

The Exwel Trust itself is managed by aged veterans. The Trust is having a well conceived plans and activities. As there is no specific welfare institutions like Old Age Home for the ex-servicemen, the Trust always helps out other organisations who are running old age homes, schools for the mentally retarded children etc., etc.

Palayamkottai is famous for christian missionaries and related institutions.

Our Trust members visited a Home for the aged Blind Women at St.Thomas Road, run by Christian Missionaries at Palayamkottai, Tirunelveli-Dist, Tamil Nadu . There are 29 aged blind women, cared by a Social welfare minded organization. These inmates were once the students of Blind school at Palayamkottai and now living in this home to pass their remaining period of life having no ambition but offering prayers to reach God. Our Trust arranged a Dinner on 30-3-2010 for them and dined with them.

Our Managing Trustee R.Chellappa and Financial Trustee C.Muthukrishnan were interacting with them for a long time inquiring about their health, student life and their present state of affairs. Our Chief Admin .Officer, M.Packia Natajan was narrating the life of Armed Forces men and the ladies were very happy and the gathering was vibrant as the inmates threw a lot of questions. Our Chief Liaison officer Mr.S.Kanthiah wished the aged ladies a very long and healthy life. Our Managing Trustee promised them to provide the day to day needs like bathing soap and tooth brush and paste for everyone. Lastly the aged Ladies prayed for a healthy and long life of the Trust members and their families..

ANNADHANAM AT AN ORPHANAGE HOME OF CHIDEREN OF
AIDS EFFECTED PARENTS AT PALAYAMKOTTAI, TIRUNELVELI

Our Trust Members visited an orphanage at Palayamkottai run by an organization on 16-3-2010
There are about 22 children of Aids effected parents looked after by the welfare minded organization. Since the inmates of their parents were affected by Aids, the children were literally deserted and become almost orphan. A grand dinner with variety of food was served to them by us.
We advised the children and encouraged them to study well and come up in the life like any other children / citizen . Our Managing Trustee Mr.R.Chellappa assured the Organisers to help the children by providing Uniform and Books in the coming Academic year. The function was concluded with a prayer by the children.

100% RESTORATION OF FAMILY PENSION

100% RESTORATION OF FAMILY PENSION

Whenever a Family Pension is divided due to circumstances unavoidable for various reasons, the amount of family pension gets reduced to the individual. However, when the other claimant becomes ineligible for the share, the widow’s share automatically to be restored the full pension. It has come to the notice of our Trust, that some widows divided share has not been restored even though the other claimant has become ineligible for the other share for a long period.

For example, a family pensioner is getting a basic pension of Rs.638; it means 50% of Rs.1275/- (As per the 5th CPC.) The Bankers do not revise to Rs.1750 which is 50% of Rs.3500 as per 6th CPC as they are not aware of the basic principle of sharing the Pension due to circumstances. But the banks are prompt in stop paying the pension for the ineligible member. The restoration is not done to the original pensioner (widow).

For Example: Second wife and daughter of first wife getting the divided pension. The daughter of first wife got married and becomes ineligible. The second wife should get the full pension.

Our Chief Liaison Officer S.Kandiah came across one such case with Central Bank of India, Kovilpatti, Tuticorin District., Tamilnadu. The Pension paid particulars as follows:-

Basic Pension ........Rs.638

Dearness Pension ....... .Rs.319

Total .... .Rs.957

DA @ 47% ........ Rs.450

Medical Allowance ......... Rs. 50

Total Pension Paid Rs.1457/-

The poor widow instead of getting Rs.4545 per month ( Rs.3500+945+100) is being paid Rs.1457. The bankers want a separate order for restoring the 100% pension for the widow. The CDA and Record Office are not in a position to issue the letter to the Bank.

Dear Veterans, Please help such widows to help their full pension. If there is any such case please bring it to our notice.

A BREAK THROUGH IN SBI PENDING CASES

A BREAK THROUGH ACHIEVEMENT FOR OUR TRUST

After the release of VI th PC , MOD letter dated 11-11-2008 ,the revision was carried out. Then CDA issued another Cir.403 informing the Banks to revise the pension according to the more beneficial Annexure m-I or III. The Honorary Lt. and Capts and Family pensioners above the Rank of Havildars were benefited by this circulars. We approached the Banks to carry out the revision as per Cir.403 but the SBI has not yielded to our request. In the mean time another CDA circular No.410 was issued raising the Special Family pension to a minimum of Rs.7000/-. There were many Spl.F.pensioners were drawing less pension. On our persuasion, all Banks except SBI were convinced with our submission and carried out the revision and paid the arrears..

We had represented to CPPC SBI Chennai in the Month of July 2009 for the effected 9 pensioners. There was no response in spite of reminders. Then we were constrained to complain to their Local Head Office, at Chennai. They asked us to furnish the particulars of the effected pensioners. We immediately submitted the list, hoping to get a favorable reply but to our surprise there was no reply. Then we approached the Customer care centre , SBI, Chennai in vain. But we were not disheartened and kept on reminding them , and also informing different Army HQs about the happenings.

Now one Mr.A.Shanmuga Sundaram ,Asst.Manager of CPPC heard our representations and arranged to revise the 9 pending cases and also assured to help for the future representations. We as a welfare Trust thank Mr.Shanmuga Sudaram and also we are very happy for the Break through in the long pending issue. The unhappiness about the customer services of SBI has come down to certain degree. This is a commendable achievement by our Trust.

ANOTHER ACHIEVEMENT WITH A DIFFERENT KIND

ANOTHER ACHIEVEMENT WITH A DIFFERENT KIND
RANK HELD- RANK FOR WHICH PENSIONED.

Sgt.S.Kanthiah (Retd), our Chief Liaison Officer is explaining the
correspondence with AFRO to JWO S.Senthis Kumar and
handing over a copy of calculation sheet to him.

In our ongoing efforts and interactions , we had noticed that one JWO. S.Senthil Kumar( 677319) ,PPO no.08/14/B/4641/2004 of Air Force was drawing pension for the Rank of Sgt. Whereas , in the PPO the Rank held is mentioned as JWO and Rank pensioned as Sgt.

We took up the case with Air Force Record Office , New Delhi and requested them to clarify as per VI th PC ,whether the pensioner may be paid for the Rank held -JWO at the time of discharge which is notified in the PPO.

We are grateful for AFRO for their prompt reply and informed us and the PDA , Indian Overseas Bank, Kalakad, Tirunelvlei-Dist, Tamil Nadu that the subject JWO 's pension may be revised as Rs.5872/ Basic a JWO's pension with effect from 1-1-2006. Accordingly, we calculated the arrears payable to him amounting to Rs.47652/- up to the month of January 2010 and submitted to the PDA.

We are thankful to the IOB Kalakad branch for their kind acceptance of our statement and revision and payment of the arrears to JWO S.Senthil Kumar.

In nutshell it is an achievement with a different kind and the result of a sustained efforts of the team members of our Trust.
