GRANT OF PENSION
TO HONORARY OFFICERS
1. The JCOs
granted Honorary Ranks in the three services are considered as part of the
other Ranks. Their pensionary matters
are accordingly decided at par with Other Ranks including implementation of the
Sixth Central Pay Commission recommendations.
A committee was constituted under Cabinet Secretary to consider ‘One
Rank One Pension’.
2. The
committee while not recommending grant of ‘One Rank One Pension’ to Pre
01.01.06 retired Other Ranks, made recommendations for grant of higher pension
to Pre 01.01.06 retired Other Ranks.
However, in the order issued for implementation of the above
recommendations vide MoD OM No.PC 10(1)/2009-D (Pen/Pol) dated 08 Mar 2010, the
benefit has not been extended to the Pre 01.01.06 retired Honorary Ranks.
3. The
courts have decided in favour of the Pre 01.01.06 Honorary Ranks in a number of
cases and directed upward revision of pension to them at par with Other ranks
in terms of MoD letter No.PC 10(1)/2009-D(Pen/Pol) dated 08 Mar 2010. However, benefits of these orders are being
granted only to the petitioners and are not being extended to other similarly
placed personnel.
