Our Liaison Officer Sgt.S.Kanthiah , veteran is discussing the subject with a serving Master warrant Officer.
HONORARY
OFFICERS RANK- LT / CAPT and JCOs..
Hony.Ranks are granted
to Sub/sub.Maj of Army , CPO/ MCPO- I, MCPO-II of
Navy and WO/ MWO of Air force on fulfilling certain conditions.
These Ranks are
granted while in Service and it is paid rank and eligible for
pension. Normally it is granted
in the last years of service of JCOs.
Then, some times this Rank
is further Revised to higher Rank also
after discharge .
For example, a
Hony.Lt granted while in service, is
further revised as Hony.Capt for
Army after discharge, but no pension.
It will be notified by a
corr PPO indicating as—
Rank -Read as- Hony.Capt
for for -Sub.Maj/ Hony Lt.
In this case, he is eligible for Pension for the Rank of
Su.Maj/ Hony.Lt only
Many veterans are seeking
clarification in this regard.
This 2nd
Revision of Rank is normally done only in Army and not in Air
Force or Navy.
In Navy and Air
Force, the granting this Rank while in
Service is final .
e.g In Air Force,, once Hony.Fg Officer / Hony.Flt.Lt ,granted, there
will be no further change.
In the same manner , in
Navy, Hony.Sub.Lt/ Hony.Lt
once granted, there is no further change.
Note:
There is no change in service numbers on this Hony.Ranks for Navy and Air Force.
Their Service numbers given on enrollment
continues even When they are promoted
to JCOs Ranks also like JWO WO,& MWO
IN Air Force and CPO, MCPO IN Navy, no change in Service numbers.
Even after promotion to Hony .Commission ranks , same
number will continue.
But, in Army, when they are promoted to Nb.Sub ,Sub
& Sub.Maj, the JCO ranks ,their
Regiment number is changed as JC.
1234. This JC number will continue for Hony.commission Ranks..
As per our thinking, it is a discrimination.
It is very easy to find
out from the Service Number of Army ,
whether one is a JCO, but in Air Force or Navy, we can not know from the
service number alone.
One has to establish/
prove that he is a JCO i.e a JWO/ WO/
MWO / CPO &MCPO by producing his documents Like Discharge Book, ID card
etc.
While in uniform, it is
easy to judge but in civil dress , it is
difficult .
We feel it is a
disadvantage by not having separate
numbers for JCO Ranks.
We feel, in Air Force and
Navy also, JCOs shall have different service numbers.
Our Veteran
brothers are requested to note the same and think over..
.
I do agree & suggest , No. shall be with for all three services. For example jc-12345 or o-12345.
