PENSIONABLE QUALIFYING
SERVICE IS EXPECTED TO BE INCREASED TO 20 YRS FROM
EXISTING 15 YRS FOR JCOS AND ORS.
Candidates’ are
recruited between 17 .5 to 21 yrs of age as soldiers.
As of now, after serving
for 15 yrs , a soldier gets pension for life, a minimum of 35 yrs pension.
On discharge,
after 15 yrs, he may take
a second service and get a second
pension also.
Because of the
existing 15 yrs formula, the Military
service is losing , a well trained,
experienced persons and creating a
vacuums.
To obviate such situation, the Military authorities is
planning to extend the Minimum pensionable qualifying service to 20 yrs
from the existing 15 yrs.
There will be no pension
if one is discharged between 15 to 20 yr of service.
Pension will be sanctioned
only after serving for 20 yrs and above.
This new rule is under
consideration for implementation.
