ONE VETERAN FILED A PETITION AGAINST CENTRE ON OROP.

One Rank One Pension: Madras HC notice to Centre on petition by ex-serviceman
Friday, 5 June 2015 - 11:29pm IST | Place: Madurai | Agency: PTI
Acting on the petition by ex-serviceman S Chinnadurai, Justice S Vaidyanathan ordered notice to the Cabinet, Finance and Defence secretaries and sought their reply within two weeks.
  •
The Madras High Court on Friday issued notice to the Centre on a petition seeking a direction to issue a notification to implement the One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme within a stipulated period.

Acting on the petition by ex-serviceman S Chinnadurai, Justice S Vaidyanathan ordered notice to the Cabinet, Finance and Defence secretaries and sought their reply within two weeks. The petitioner contended that 90 per cent of the ex- servicemen are living below the poverty line. Previous governments had already announced OROP and allocated Rs 500 crore for it. On May 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had also assured that OROP would be implemented by the government but no timeframe had been given, he alleged.

The Indian ex-servicemen movement had also sent a memorandum and he had also submitted a representation. Chinnadurai said it was mandatory on the part of the government to implement OROP before the fiscal 2014-15 after announcing the scheme.

The delay in implementing the scheme would demoralise serving soldiers and ex-serviceman and adversely affect the integrity of the country, he said. He said that Armymen, who sacrificed the better part of their youth for the country, were not even getting proper jobs after they retired between 30 and 40 years of age

DEFENCE MINISTER TO MEET FINANCE MINISTER ON OROP.

Parrikar to discuss OROP with Jaitley

New Delhi, June 3, 2015, DHNS:

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar PTI

Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar is likely to meet Finance Minister Arun Jaitley later this week to iron out the differences on the implementation of the One Rank One Pension (OROP) for the ex-servicemen.

The two senior ministers would not only have to find ways to arrange for an additional Rs 8,300 crore in the defence ministry’s budget in 2015 to implement OROP, but would also have to plug the loopholes while rolling out the scheme.

ESM RALLY ON 14-6-2015

EX-SERVICEMEN MAHA SANGRAM RALLY
FROM 1000H TO 1400H ON 14 JUNE 15
 AT JANTAR MANTAR NEW DELHI

EXSERVICMEN ARE DISAPPOINTED WITH NDA GOVERNMENT.

IESM calls for a Maha Sangram ESM Rally from 1000h to 1400h on 14 June 15 Sunday at JANTAR MANTAR NEW DELHI. ALL EX-SERVICEMEN ARE REQUESTED TO COME IN LARGE NUMBER TO EXERT MAXIMUM PRESSURE ON GOVERNMENT FOR RELEASE OF OROP NOTIFICATION AT THE EARLIEST.

IESM appreciates Wg Cdr SD Karnik and Wg Cdr KV Bopardikar for politely refusing felicitation by the Defense Minister in Pune. This step has forced the Government to think and has exposed the Government for intentionally delaying OROP.  Media cell of IESM has been working overtime to ensure that OROP is extensively covered by all channels.  GB IESM has their ears tuned to ground realities and act on even small rumblings.

Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi has made an appeal on Radio on 31 May 15 to Armed Forces Personnel and Ex-servicemen that OROP is his commitment and it will be released soon. Some ex-servicemen are very impressed with this announcement and are suggesting postponement of proposed agitation.  IESM HAS FULL FAITH ON SINCERITY OF ANNOUCEMENT OF HONORABLE PRIME MINISTER BUT FAIL TO UNDERSTAND WHY HE COULD NOT GIVE A DEFINITE TIME FRAME FOR OROP ANNOUNCEMENT AND SECONDLY HINT ABOUT SEARCH FOR PLEASE ALL DEFINITION OF OROP IS A HINT FOR DILUTION OF APPROVED DEFINITION OF OROP. A detailed study of the speech and interview with Tribune indicates that PM has said that his Government is elected for five years and he will find solution. Does it mean that Honorable PM is asking ESM to wait till may be five yrs till he finds solution to so called complex problem of OROP? Veterans! OROP definition is approved and sealed. The definition is sacrosanct and there is no scope of dilution. What PM is hinting at is please all definition that means tweaking with the definition to please bureaucrats. Would ESM accept it? IESM says NO.
