Mr.S.Velmani  sitting by the side of our Liaison Office Sgt,kanthiah, discussing the latest position of OROP and the other officials are keenly listening.

We are immensely happy that Mr.S.Velmani, M.Com, BL, FICWA, FCS, and DME , the Pay and Accounts Officer( South) of Tamil Nadu paid a visit to our Trust. Moreover, he is an Ex.Sergeant of Indian Air Force.

As he is a regular visitor of our Blogs, he appreciated the activities of our Trust for the noble services extended to Ex-Servicemen Community, particularly for Widow pensioners.

He wished all the Trust members and families for a Hale and Healthy Long life to serve more for the needy Veterans.

Our Trust whole hardheartedly thank him for his visit, and we are honoured by a High Ranking official of Tamil Nadu visiting and appreciating us.

EXWEL TRUST VISITS A RETIREMENT HOME

EXWEL  TRUST  VISITS  OLD  AGE  RETIREMENT  HOME

The Exwel Trust visited one Old Age Retirement home called “Golden Days “ Retirement home at Allikulam about 30 Kms. Away from Tuticorin on 26.06.2012.

On arrival, we were received by the Warden of the Home Mr.Narasingaperumal.  He explained about the home.  We had interacted with many inmates of the home and the surroundings of the home.  During our visit, the following were observed/noted.

(a)    Despite a isolated location, the area is kept neat and clean having a majestic look with lot of plants around the garden.
(b)   There is variety of Rooms.  Two bed room, 4 bed room and Six bed room. Including AC Rooms.
(c)    The charges of the rooms  varied from Rs.3000 to Rs.6000 per head per month.
(d)   The meals served are of good quality.  Other facilities like meeting hall, TV etc. are provided.
(e)   The inmates we interacted were totally happy and praise the home.

During our visit, we met two Air Force veterans aged about 68 years and one Royal Indian Air Force about 93 years old.  They had also expressed their happiness to stay at the Retirement home.

It may not be out of place to mention here that every care is taken to ensure the well being of the inmates by the home.  One Medical officer is visiting the home every month. By and large it is worth for those who are uncared by their families to stay here.

Since many aged ex-servicemen who visit our office are desperately in need of a Retirement home.  As we could not fulfill their requirement for  various reasons, we decided to visit such home and sponsor our  people to these home.  In this respect, the “Golden Days Retirement Home is a very good home.  Those who want to stay there may contact:Mr.R.Immanuel Jeevanraj, Office Manager, Mobile 9442646488.  The address of the Home:
Golden Days Retirement Home
Andal Nagar, Allikulam (Post)

We publish below some photos  of Two Air Veterans at at the home.

EXWEL TRUST VISITS A SECOND WORLD WAR WIDOW

EXWEL TRUST VISITS A SECOND WORLD WAR WIDOW

We came to know that one widow was drawing ordinary family pension bearing PPO No.F/WAR/1939.  We took up the case with the Record office and the CDA Allahabad.  Now we have received a confirmation from EME Records, Secunderabad and the widow is eligible a Liberalised Family pension of Rs.9200 p.m. w.e.f. 01.01.2006.

Name: Smt.Vela Thangammal W/O (Late)Sep.Lakshmana Nadar Reg.No.93763 died during 2nd world war. PPO No.F/WAR/1939 and F/TI/473/1962.  PDA Canara Bank, Arumuganeri, Tuticorin District.

We the exwel trust members visited the 91 years old Second World war widow in a remote village named  SETHUKKUVAITHAN IN Tuticorin District of Tamilnadu. The war widow, 91 years old, hard of hearing was taken aback by our visit and thanked us for this noble service.

Her basic pension is to be revised from Rs.3500 to Rs.9200 w.e.f. 01.01.2006.  We contacted the PDA and informed about the revision and payment of arrears.  The Manager was kind enough to accept our submission and agreed to do the needful.

Dear Veterans, there are a number of widows living in remote villages without knowing their benefits.  We found that the Second world war widow has not been given  CSD Canteen card.  She has not been given even the widows identity card.

The photos taken during our visit to her house on 26.06.2012.

Note: The efforts of Exwel Trust to locate the Spl. Family pensioners and War Widow pensioners living in remote villages with the help of the PPO numbers helped a lot.  Neither the Bank nor the pensioner was aware of her pension entitlement.  But for the exwel trust's efforts, the widow would have not received this revised pension and arrears.  The Exwel Trust is very proud of its achievement.

PENSION ANAMOLY FOR GROUP I SERGEANTS PRE 10.10.97

ANAMOLY IN PENSION FOR GROUP I SERGEANT AND DIPLOMA HOLDER SERGEANT X GROUP.

1st Group Sergeants of Air Force who retired before 10.10.97 are given a revised basic pension of Rs.5492. (For 15 years service)  Whereas the same 1st Group Sergeants who retired after 10.10.97 are paid a revised basic pension of Rs.5820.  Both are not diploma holders.  Why there is such an anamoly ?  When we asked for a clarification on the subject, we have received the following reply from CDA Allahabad.  Is this reply satisfactory ?  What to do and how to remove this anamoly ? Please think it over.

CLARIFICATION REGARDING CDA CIRCULAR 478
Our Letter to CDA Allahabad.
Sir, I am a retired Air Force Sergeant.  Service 15 years. Group I  Date of discharge 31.12.1974
PPO No.S/25780/1974.
My pension was revised to Rs.5492/- as per Table 111 of Cir.430.
THE PAY SCALE WAS REVISED WITH EFFECT FROM 10.10.1997.
Now as per Cir 478 dated 13.02.2012 “In terms of para 1.1 of GOI, MOD letter dated 08.03.2010 all pre 10.10.1997 pensioners are to be brought at par with Post 10.10.1997 PBOR  pensioners”.

I am a Pre10.10.1997 retiree.  Hence I humbly request you to clarify whether I am eligible for a Basic pension of Rs.5820 as per table No.112 of Cir.430 instead of Rs.5492 of table No.111 of Cir 430.

THE ABOVE LETTER WAS SENT ON 22 May, 2012.

The reply received from CDA Allahabad is reproduced below:-

Clarification regarding  CDA Cir.478 Regarding Gp.I and Gp.X Sergeant. (Tables 111 and 112)

In this connection it is stated that Table No.112 appended in GOI MOD letter dt.08.03.2010 contains the revised rates of pension for Sergeant Gp.,X. (Diploma holder) wef 01.07.2009.  This special group of Sergeant has been designed wef 10.10.1997 and it is a different group as compared with  Sergeant Group ,X..

Therefore revised rate of pension wef 01.07.2009 as Rs.5492 (in terms of table No.111 appended to GOI MOD letter dt.08.03.2010) is considered to be correct as group of above named individual is equivalent to Group X.

As such the instant case is to be covered under Table No.111 and not under Table No.112 as Group I is equal to Group ,X,.
